Frustration

I have some really neat Maggie video to share, and have been trying to download it for a few days, but it just won't work! I'm so frustrated!

The countdown to surgery has begun. 12 days. I know it will be here before I know it. At this point, I just want it to be over with.

Maggie's been trying to eat the last few days, but even her pureed baby foods are coming up. I feel so badly for her. I am more and more convinced that the Nissen is the right thing to do for her. I hope it helps keep her more comfortable, so she can learn that eating isn't always painful.

Otherwise, Maggie is doing wonderfully. She is sitting up by herself now, and plays with toys while sitting too! She is discovering more and more that she has legs and they are useful... the jumperoo that Auntie Beth bought her for her birthday is to blame! Maggie bounces all the time now, and is really doing nicely pushing with her legs. We've seen her try to scoot a little while on her tummy, and interestingly enough, she usually ends up going backwards. She is babbling all the time, claps her hands, waves hello, and bounces to music like she's dancing. She smiles nonstop, and I recently discovered that Little Peanut Face is a bit ticklish!

Hopefully, I'll get that video up soon. It's the cutest thing I've ever seen, and am just dying to share it with you. Thanks for checking in with us!

Have you guys entirely ruled out food allergies/sensitivities for Maggie? I only ask because the return-of-the-baby-food-and-formula scenario is hauntingly familiar. Turns out that Hallie could tolerate very little of what we were feeding her (only apples and pears and plums/prunes---every other flavor caused a problem for the longest time). Hallie's now outgrowing these, but it was hell back in the day (she's still sensitive to cow milk, corn, beef, and berries and carrots and sweet potatoes still lead to reflux -- she can have tiny amounts of each, but not a full serving. She's good on wheat, chicken, fish, other fruits like mango, melon, and seems okay on soy these days). Anyway, hopefully the fundo will keep things in and she won't feel too much pain on the reflux, but the allergy question is worth pondering. Hallie never tested positive to anything but egg, wheat, and barley, but the stuff we were seeing was reason enough for the allergist to believe that she was at least sensitive to those foods and not to give them to her.

Good luck with everything!

Hi- I've been following your blog and must say that I am amazed at your strength. Our baby girl is still in the NICU, going on 125 days today. She was born at 25 weeks and just had surgery for a G-tube and a Fundoplication. We are hoping to take her home in the next few weeks! I'm trying to prepare myself up for the challenges we will face once she's home...so scary! Hallie is beautiful!
